Review written by Needler, 2008. Please do not claim as your own, or I shall whack you with a fish =)
I remember when I first played this game. I wasnt born when it was first release but i played it in legend of zelda : collectors edition. so letes get to the review shall we.
graphics 8/10
Although the graphics may be amazing now, back then it was probably considered OK. But still, you knew what you were attacking. May it have been a lowly Ocatrok, to an evil Wizzarobe, you would know what was trying to kill you. My favorite enemies were the Mummies, and the Wizzarobes. My favorite bosses were the Dodongos, Aquamentus, and of course, the villain we love to hate, and hate to love, Gannon. I loved the graphics then. Hell, I still love them. You would know when you enter a desert, or when you were up in Death Mountains. You could tell an arrow from a rock. As long as you can make out the graphics, and not have to say, "What the #$@! is that?", the graphics are pretty good. For it's time and progress back then, I would have to say they were damn good graphics.
music and sound 10/10
Oh man, don't even get me started on the music. I loved that tune, where your in the overworld. Sometimes, I would get that tune stuck in my head. I would hum it to myself all day, and everyone would think I was weird. I liked the dungeon music too. The first time I entered a dungeon, I knew that was cool music. The music I liked the most was the music in level nine. My mom didn't like that music, because she said it sounded scary. The sound effects were cool to. I liked it when the Wizzarobes would fire at you. Or when you would fire the sword. That was like my favorite sound effect in the game. no other NES game music, could compare to legend of zelda music.
game challenge 9/10
I remembered when I would get so mad at the game. I would start screaming my head off in anger. Then, I would take a break from playing, a long one. Yes, 10 minutes was a long break for me to not play a game, any game. Now, whenever I play a new game on "The Legend of Zelda", I can beat the entire first quest within a day. I sometimes spend hours upon hours, trying to find an item in this game. Then I remember the bosses. The third boss, Manhadla, or whatever his name is, was hard for me, because he would move so fast.
game play fun 10/10
You could never get me off of that thing, ever. I recall being dragged away once. My dad said it's time for dinner, and I said just a minute. He hated the game, simply hated it. He said were having hamburgers. I knew he was lying, because that night, we were having some pork chops. He then said get your ass down here, and I said no. He then came up, turned off the Nintendo, and dragged me down to dinner. I didn't talk to him for the rest of the night. Heck, you could be held at gunpoint, and be told to get into the car, and you couldn't get me off it. The point being, beside the flashbacks, is the fact that is one game you won't want to put down. Now, what I recommend you people do is glue your hands to the controller, and start playing the game right now. Don't worry about food anymore, because Zelda is all that you will ever need. (Just kidding).
fustration 7/10
The fact that I got my but kicked by Gannon so many times really cheesed me off. The fact that I could never find my way around the last level cheesed me off. Also, I needed twelve heart containers to get the magic sword. That made me mad. And that everything in the game was so overpriced. That's it.
replayability 5/10
It was a great game to replay. It had a second quest you could play. Unfortunately, the second quest was to hard for me, so I never played it. By the time I tried again, "The Legend of Zelda twilight princess" came out for the gamecube and wii. so i forgot about it and played twilight princess all day.
game value 10/10
hat game is worth 60 dollars/ 30 pound today, I here. There's no question why, it's simply because it was one of the greatest games ever made. The gold cartridge sells for even more.although ive never seen the gold cartridge.
overall 10/10
It's one of the greatest games I've ever played. Everyone would like it. One of my friends is a Zelda fanatic. They should make something like a cult about the game. I would call it: "The Cult of Zelda".
